Purpose of the registry

Selle Protect is an independent vigilance tool used to search for a saddle reported stolen, request that a saddle be added to the registry and alert the reporting person when a search exactly matches an approved report.

Account required

Searching, reporting and tracking require a free account. Account holders agree to provide an accurate first name, last name, country and department, region, state or province, and not to create multiple accounts to bypass search limits. Sign-in is managed by ChatGPT; Selle Protect does not store passwords.

Private saddle records and histories

Account holders may create private records for their saddles and add dated events. They agree to enter accurate information, copy the full serial number exactly as it appears on the saddle and not place identity documents, bank details or sensitive personal information in free-text fields.

A record and its history are self-declared. They are neither proof of ownership, a certificate of authenticity nor an appraisal of the saddle’s condition. Naming a workshop or professional does not prove their involvement unless direct verification by that professional is offered.

Deleting a record permanently deletes its associated history. In the event of a sale or transfer, the account holder remains responsible for updating or deleting the record. Verified transfer between accounts is not available in the current version.

Searches and plans

An individual account includes two free searches renewed every month. The €5.99 ten-search pass and paid professional subscription are announced but are not yet available for purchase. No payment method is requested in the current version.

A professional account receives unlimited searches for three months from activation. At the end of this period, no subscription or payment starts automatically. Until secure payment is available, the account returns to the free plan.

Limits of a search

A missing result is neither proof of ownership nor a guarantee of origin or certification of a seller’s identity. The service does not replace checks with the manufacturer, a police report or action by law-enforcement authorities.

Match alerts

An exact search made from a different account may trigger an alert for the reporting person of a saddle confirmed stolen. The alert does not mean that the saddle was seen or offered for sale. It does not reveal personal data about the person who made the search. To limit repeated notifications, the same saddle can trigger no more than one automatic alert every 24 hours.

The alert is available in the personal account. An email notification may also be sent when email delivery is enabled. Selle Protect does not guarantee delivery, including where an address is incorrect, a message is filtered or the provider is unavailable.

Sending information

A person who receives a “reported stolen” result may voluntarily send a message, a link and their account email to the reporting person. They agree to provide truthful, useful and lawfully obtained information. False, threatening, defamatory, promotional or harmful messages are prohibited.

Information sent is not verified by Selle Protect. Users must not confront the seller or anyone suspected of wrongdoing. Concrete evidence should be preserved and shared with law-enforcement authorities.

Theft reports

Theft reports are free and unlimited. The reporting person agrees to provide truthful and accurate information about a saddle they own or are legitimately authorised to report. Deliberately false, malicious or harmful reports are prohibited.

A request never appears automatically in search results. Selle Protect may ask for clarification, reject an inconsistent request or remove a disputed report.

Confidential code

The reporting person must keep their tracking code secure. It can be used to check progress and submit a recovery or deletion request. It must not be shared with another person.

Availability

Selle Protect may temporarily suspend the service for maintenance, security or corrections. The registry is provided as an additional tool and does not guarantee permanent availability or a complete record of saddle thefts.
